About GritHouse

Our Story

From A Garage Rack To A Real Floor

GritHouse started in 2013 when two coaching friends got kicked out of a big box gym for dropping bars and asking too many questions about the membership contract. They bought a rack, a few hundred kilos of plates, and opened a garage on Robinson Ave with a hand painted sign.

The garage filled up in eight months. The lot next door became the first real floor, then the warehouse behind it became the one you train on now. What never changed is how the place runs: small classes, coaches on the floor all day, and programming that actually goes somewhere.

Today we run more than forty coached sessions a week for around 900 members, from college kids to grandparents. Some train for sport, most train for life, and everyone gets coached the same way.

Our promise: you will never pay for a membership here and train alone without knowing what to do. That is not how this place works.

How We Run The Place

Four Rules We Train By

Nothing clever about them. They just get said out loud a lot, so we put them on the wall.

01

Show Up

The hardest part of training is walking through the door. We make the door easy to walk through and the rest follows.

02

Coach Hard

Coaches here correct, encourage and push. A rep counted is not the same as a rep coached, and we know the difference.

03

Keep It Honest

No fake weights, no fake numbers, no contracts you cannot escape. Progress here is measured, not marketed.

04

Leave It Better

Re-rack your plates. Say hi to the new person. This place works because everyone chips in to keep it that way.

The People

Coached By Actual Humans

Eighteen coaches on staff, all certified, all training here themselves. Nobody got hired from a resume alone.
